The castle or walled fortress in Santa Pola hosts exhibitions, medieval markets, weddings and end of year events. Just a 5 minute walk from there is the port area where you can enjoy a beverage, meal or a stroll around it to see the many boats or yachts moored there. Only 15 minutes away from Gran Alacant is the cosmopolitan city of Alicante. For those interested in history there are two castles, the MARQ museum with EU Intelletual Property Office and the Ciudad de luz.
